Show me how to save spreadsheets in a backward compatible format in Microsoft Excel 2007
Excel -> Microsoft Excel 2007Problem: When I send my Excel 2007 spreadsheets to colleagues with older versions of Excel, they can't open the files. I need to save spreadsheets in a format that is compatible with past versions of Excel.
- Open Microsoft Excel 2007
- Click the "Office" button (it's the circle with the four multicolored squares in the upper left hand corner of the Excel window)
- Mouse over the "Save As" item
- Click on "Excel 97-2003 Workbook"
- On the "Save As" window, navigate to the desired location and enter a file name in the "File name:" field
- Click "Save"
- Click the "Office" button
- Click the "Excel Options" button
- Select the "Save" option on the left navigation
- Under the "Save workbooks" section, on the "Save files in this format:" drop-down menu, select "Excel 97-2003 Workbook (*.xls)"
- Click "OK"
